A recent highly scientific (and only semi-appropriate) poll of Team G&J revealed a shared insight about Valentine's Day. Aside from one outlier who shall remain anonymous, most of us agreed: the best dates weren’t the fanciest. They weren’t the most expensive. And they definitely weren’t the time we finally got that Cartier Juste un Clou ring we’d been subtly hinting at for years…
Nope. The best dates are the unexpected ones. The experiences. The nights with food you still remember the taste of, places you’d never been before, laughs that turn into inside jokes you reference for years.
You know what doesn’t make the list of great date experiences? Being cold. Truly—nothing kills a vibe faster than shivering through what was supposed to be romantic. Keeping someone cozy is basically a love language, and conveniently, it’s one we know a thing or two about.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we’re rounding up some of our favorite date spots that check all of the boxes: great atmosphere, memorable settings, and heated furniture ready to keep the conversation (and your date) warm!
For a sweet and memorable time, head to Smitten Ice Cream in San Francisco’s Mission District. The only thing hot and cold will be your fresh, made-to-order ice cream and the cozy, heated seat you’ll share.
Not only does Smitten have incredible ice cream (deemed “the freshest, if not best ice cream on earth” by Vogue magazine), they have a heated Apollo lounge that you can cozy up in while you enjoy your made-to-order scoops!
You can dazzle your date with some insider knowledge: each scoop is flash-frozen in about 90 seconds by a patented “Brrr Machine” that uses liquid nitrogen at -321°F. This creates incredibly small ice crystals, resulting in a uniquely smooth and creamy texture.
If your ideal date night involves some playful competition, book a “tee time” at Holey Moley Mini Golf on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade.
Holey Moley offers 27 holes of mini-golf madness spread across three pop-culture-themed courses. But the fun doesn’t stop on the green. After your round, enjoy some tasty bites and eccentric craft cocktails (think: aperol spritz served in a mini bath tub) on the outdoor patio. Keep a look out for the best seats in the house—our heated Komos lounges and chairs!
If you’re in the mood to reconnect and rejuvenate, plan a day date at Sauna House in either Asheville or Durham, North Carolina.
The Sauna House cold plunge experience is built around a hot-cold-relax thermal cycle designed to leave you feeling clear-headed and refreshed. You move from the heat of the sauna to a bracing cold plunge, followed by a period of rest, ideally on a heated lounge. It’s a powerful way to reset your body and mind.
Both locations feature an array of our heated Helios chairs and lounges, and Sauna House recommends ending your circuit by resting on one. It’s the perfect way to gently bring your body temperature back to normal, allowing your muscles to relax completely as the warmth envelops you. It’s a date that’s truly designed for quiet connection and restoration.
Not in the North Carolina area? Our heated furniture is also a fixture in the nordic spa at High Country Motor Lodge in Flagstaff, AZ and Alchemy Springs in San Francisco.
For a truly classic romantic evening, there’s nothing better than incredible Italian food with a stunning view. You’ll find both at Angelino Restaurant in Sausalito.
Opened in 1983 by Chef Pasquale Ancona and his wife Donna, Angelino’s has been a local favorite for decades, serving traditional house-made pastas and Neapolitan pizzas—yum! Today, the husband-and-wife team of executive chef Alfredo and head pastry chef Tera continue the tradition.
The best seat in the house is on their front patio, where a heated Orion lounge offers an unbelievable, front-row view of the bay. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the city lights sparkle across the water. Just be warned: the chefs are huge fans of the lounge, so you might have to race them for it!
For a date night that’s quite literally above it all, book a table at Saga. Perched on the 63rd floor of a historic Art Deco skyscraper in Manhattan’s Financial District, this two-Michelin-starred restaurant offers an unforgettable experience.
The main event is the breathtaking, panoramic view of the NYC skyline, which you can enjoy from the comfort of an Evia heated chair on their rooftop terrace. Starting the evening with a drink on the terrace is a perfect way to kick off a memorable night. It’s a date that feels like you’re at the very heart of the city.
For a casual coffee date that feels like a mini-getaway, head to the charming coastal town of Pacifica.
Make your first stop Craftsman Coffee, a wonderful spot run by friends of G&J. The people are lovely, and the drinks are both whimsical and delicious. The best part? You can enjoy your coffee on one of their many heated lounges, staying cozy while you map out your coastal adventure. The pink Helios lounge makes for an ideal photo opportunity!
Once you’re caffeinated, Pacifica is your oyster. You can go for a stunning hike along the cliffs at Mori Point, watch the surfers at the famous Linda Mar Beach, or take a walk along the iconic Pacifica Pier. It’s the perfect way to kick off a day of exploration.
The best connections happen when you abandon your devices, forget about the cold, and linger a little longer. It’s less about the grand gesture and more about the shared moment.
Here’s to a season of connection. Stay warm out there.
